Apple is allegedly planning to build on Anthropic's AI.
My take?
Apple has the opportunity to drop this "AI arms race" nonsense and focus on building products and experiences that customers will love.
(Maybe that's what they're doing here – outsourcing the model-building to someone else, which has the added benefits of reducing certain types of R&D risk – but it sounds like they are just doing AI to keep up with the rest of the crowd.)
Siri does not "need" AI. There are some features of Siri that might run faster/better/smoother with some extra AI under the hood. Sure. But that approach requires starting from the problem or opportunity ("how do we make Siri better?") rather than the technology ("how do we squeeze AI into Siri?").
If your company is taking a technology-first approach to AI, you're doing yourself a disservice. Start with your business model, your challenges, your aspirations … and then see whether/how AI might improve things.
And if you need expert guidance on surfacing those use cases, reach out. I can help.
