Are you familiar with the term "bullshit machines?"
It's become a derogatory term for genAI bots/LLMs – because the bots accidentally emit nonsense (so-called "hallucinations") and also because people use them to create massive amounts of trash (spam, slop websites).
There's some truth to that. But as a longtime data and AI practitioner, I can tell you that the biggest bullshit machine isn't actually a machine.
It's the AI hype crew.
These are the vendors and publications that tell you how much you need AI. The influencers who claim that AI poses an existential threat to your business, but also that not using AI is a threat. Anyone who keeps banging on about this so-called "AI arms race."
It's all noise. All of it.
Do you want your company to reach its AI potential?
Block out the bullshit. Tune out the static. Look inward to focus on your business model, your needs, and your risk/opportunity space. Develop AI literacy so you'll understand where AI can move the needle on your business, and where it can't. Then get moving.
That's it.
And if you need help understanding how AI can help your business, reach out.
(That goes double if you've already gotten traction on your AI efforts and you'd like an external expert's view on your efforts.)
