Forcing AI into a company
2025-05-27

Yet another CEO requires the entire company to use AI. This time it's for Norway's sovereign wealth fund.

I get the overall idea. But the approach these CEOs are taking will bring on needless downside risk exposure. It's rooted in a harsh truth about AI. I'll explain:

The overall idea: Exploring AI makes perfect sense. If they happen upon a meaningful use case, that could lead to outsized ROI.

The downside risk exposure: Demanding the use of AI? That's how you wind up with people desperately cramming AI into places where it's not a good fit, glossing over the potential problems.

The harsh truth: Sometimes there is no good, meaningful AI use case for a particular business function. You can't force a good use case into existence just by demanding it.

Is your company in a similar boat? Here's how to improve your risk/reward tradeoff:

Don't require your teams to use AI. Require them to explore AI. (With a proper guide, of course.)

(And if you need help surfacing those use cases, or otherwise navigating the AI landscape, please reach out. )
