Token-counting as a metric

LLM token usage is a great metric … if you're a genAI company that sells tokens! But it's a terrible metric if your company uses genAI.

A metric's value is in the information it provides. And token count? That provides zero meaningful visibility into the impact of your genAI adoption. You need to know how much genAI is moving the needle on improving your company's products and business operations. Token-usage leaderboards don't show that.

Successful AI adoption is so much more than telling people to use Claude/Gemini/CharGPT. The companies that win with AI long-term will be those which:
