Time to clear up some terminology:
➡️ "AI" is a technology.
➡️ "AI transformation" is a strategic business matter.
Confusing the two can lead to trouble.
I'll explain:
AI transformation is about understanding your goals and challenges, then seeing what new opportunities and risks arise from integrating this technology into key elements of your business.
You need to take a whole-of-business approach so you can determine how using AI in one department creates knock-on effects (positive and negative) in other departments – and what that means for operations, hiring, regulatory matters, and so on.
And you don't get there by just tacking AI onto the side of your company. If done well, you'll become a whole new company.
Long story short:
❌ If you approach your AI transformation as a purely technical matter, you'll lose out.
❌ If you think that running some demo projects counts as an AI transformation, you'll lose out.
❌ If you expect that handing everyone access to ChatGPT or Claude will be enough, you'll lose out.
