Reading works wonders

I wholeheartedly agree with Lucinda Bounsall 's point. I read a fair amount -- books, blogs, news outlets -- and across various topics. Doing so stretches and hones my perspective. The world is a highly connected place, and reading will help you see the connections that exist between what appear to be unrelated topics.

I'll tack on two ideas:

1/ In addition to reading ... don't forget to write.

As you absorb all of this information and your brain puts new pieces together, there's nothing quite like writing it all down. You don't even have to publish it; the mere act of collecting your ideas will work wonders for how you think through things.

And once in a while you can go back and review what you've written. Where were you on the mark? And where did the world go in a completely different direction?

**2/ Rereading is also helpful. **

In addition to revisiting my own work, I occasionally pull some books off the shelf for another look. That second or third read, seen through the lens of present-day events, can unveil new insights.

Lately I've been going back through books on the 2008 mortgage crisis (it's hard to not see parallels to today's genAI environment) and I flip through Chris Anderson's "Free" every year or two (as it describes how a technology shift can impact business models).

What's on your reread list?
