A periodic reminder for the stakeholders and product owners out there: No One Cares About Your AI.
No, seriously. Hear me out:
I'm a longtime practitioner in this field. So I think AI is great! And I'm sure we'd have a great conversation about the technical marvels you've built. Yes.
But your customers? They don't care. Not at all. Whether your app is built on AI or Django or Rails or COBOL or paper printouts, it makes no difference to them.
What do they care about, then?
They care about using apps that:
✅ make their job easier
✅ help them learn better
✅ solve their problems
✅ amuse them
Many of you are skipping over that so you can cram AI into every possible corner of your products. You're building features no one wants to use. And you're doing it so you can spray-paint "AI-powered" across the side. While that may impress your fellow AI enthusiasts, it does nothing for the people who use your product day-to-day.
It's 2026. How about we change things up a bit?
If you are truly excited about the prospects of AI and what it can do for your product, you can:
➡️ surface use cases where AI actually improves the workflow or end-user experience
➡️ talk to prospects and customers to make sure you're on the right track
➡️ build what excites them, not what excites you
➡️ keep discussions of technical specifics in-house
If you're doing anything else, you're just looking for an excuse to use AI. It's not working. It looks desperate. And your customers can tell.
