"Is AI a bubble? Is that bubble about to burst?"

I've gotten these questions a lot over the past couple of years. I've been getting them even more this week due to headlines about AI's precarious state in the business world and financial markets.

Since not everyone gets a one-on-one chat with me, I'm sharing my answer here:

1/ Technically, we can't call it a bubble until after the correction/collapse. We're seeing plenty of signs, though.

2/ As to when or even whether that correction arrives … I can't say for sure. No one can! The future is, and always will be, a question mark.

3/ If things do fall apart … so long as your company has approached AI with a mindset of risk-taking and risk management, you're in a good state. You've done your homework, you've traced the connections, and you've prepared for a variety of outcomes. That's the best you can do to prepare for the question mark we call the future.

I wrote a longer version of this last month in my newsletter, Complex Machinery. It's in the segment titled "The road ahead."

AI does five things

Five things. That's it.
